And We Have a Date!

I have been meaning to blog for awhile now...its not like every day you get engaged to your best friend in Paris (more on that later), and then are whisked off to exotic locales to study abroad while planning your wedding. All things that need to be documented and preserved, but the life of a 2nd year MBA looking for a job while halfway around the world is very easy and there has not been the time or a reliable internet connection to let me blog about this process.

But the most important thing, or at least the first thing in the many "important" things has been decided. We have a venue...and our date! We decided on something modern and a little quirky, we couldn't just do some nondescript hotel ballroom. And what screams personality more than a DINOSAUR?! Can't think of anything can you? That's okay, I understand, its hard to trump an Allosaurus skeleton. But "Al" at the San Diego Natural History Museum is going to be the guest of honor at our November 5, 2011 nuptials.

We had a hard time choosing a location, as there are some really cool venues in San Diego like the Seaside Forum at the Salk Institute and MCASD La Jolla. We have always loved Balboa Park and after having my fiance's photography shown in the Natural History Museum and attending his company's holiday party we knew it would be a great fit for us.

With us in Asia, it was great to be able to email the museum and work with their rep Jaleh in nailing down some basics before we made our deposit. I convinced the parentals that this was the place and they headed down to give it once over...and they were sold. With all the things on my never-ending to-do list, at least I can cross one thing off.
